All things bright and beautiful

Ave Maria was Kathy's own choice, but "All things bright and beautiful" is a hymn we chose for her.

We chose it because as a teacher she would have strummed along on her guitar and sung it many many times with her young pupils - and because of the sentiments it conveys. Kathy tended to refer to everything from spiders to elephants as "creatures". The words express a joyful love of life, living and the world around which was very Kathy.

If you happen to have landed here because you Googled for the words of "All things bright and beautiful", please also take a minute or two to visit the rest of the site. It is in memory of a very special lady.

Here are the lyrics:

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings.
(Refrain)

The purple-headed mountains,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky.
(Refrain)

The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
God made them every one.
(Refrain)

God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well.
(Refrain)
