21 - The World | ||
Pausing for a moment The Fool looks up at the trees swaying in the warm breeze and realises that somehow he had reached somewhere familiar. He recognises the village where he was born. He looks at the houses and recalls the names of the folk that had lived there. He makes his way past the village school and up the lane to the church where his parents had married and he had been baptised. In the churchyard he passes the graves of his ancestors - and finally reaches the font where the vicar had splashed water on his forehead all those years ago. He looks up. In front of him appear the spirits of his parents and his grandparents. They are all smiling. He is there too. Still a tiny child. This is it, he murmurs. This is what I have sought. This is the truth. |
