Hungry and thirsty after his detour The Fool arrives at a small church filled with pictures of saints.

He is welcomed by a kindly priest who enquires if he is on pilgrimage and offers him bread and wine.

As he eats and drinks, The Fool feels strengthened by an inner glow.

He feels inclined to forgive the Emperor's servants for making him walk so many extra miles. Before long he drowses off by the altar.
